Rains are here!! They give us respite from the harsh summers and bring a reason to smile. Kids love it and we love it too! So, we have to be extra careful this season. Sudden change in the atmosphere gives rise to infections, diseases and children are more prone to catch them. Here are some tips to let your child enjoy rains and stay healthy at the same time.
Fun in rains
- Take a stroll in the park
Take your kids out for a walk in a nearby park and watch them giggle as they splash the puddles in the rains. Enjoy these moments with your munchkins. You can go twinning. Father-son duo twinning is a memory you would want to cherish with your child.
- Cosy storytelling
Going out in the rains every day is not advisable. But there is something you can do to bond with your child! Grab a couch and have a storytelling session with your kid. Rains outside and a warm couch to rest upon with your little one is all you need this season.
- Jump in the puddles with them
Become a kid with your kid this monsoon. Jump the puddles and get all dirty! This is a nice way to go back to your childhood memories and be a part of your child’s memory as well!

- Sail paper boats
Go march your boats and say, “Aye Aye Captain” with your kid. Let him be the commander of the boat and sail down the waters.
- Drink from the source
This one is easy. Step out in the rains. Take your head behind and open your mouth! Taste the pure water on your tongue coming directly from the clouds! Get close to nature and your child as well!
- Boiled drinking water
Give your kids boiled drinking water this season. Waterborne infections are common this season and it is best to boil the water before giving it to the kids.
- Mosquito repellents
Mosquito repellents are a must have this season. The rainy season is when mosquitoes are on a high. They carry with them dangerous diseases like dengue, malaria. So, it is important that your kids do not fall prey to them. Let them carry mosquito repellents in their bags so they can apply it whenever.
- Avoiding tap water
Water in taps is generally unfit for drinking. It is best to avoid tap water and carry a bottle from home instead. Waterborne diseases are on a rise during the rains. Best to carry water from home.
- Having a bath after encountering the rains
Children love to get wet in the rains. Let them have that fun but as a parent, you need to make sure that they wear dry clothes immediately. Also, they should have a good bath to remove the dirt from their bodies to avoid rashes. This way they can enjoy the rains and not fall ill too.
- Proper clothes and raincoats
An important factor in protecting your kids from the rains is giving them proper clothes. A raincoat which shields them from top to bottom. Gumboots are also essential in protecting the feet of your children from getting wet and dirtying themselves. Changing on dry clothes should also be a priority.
